Eloise Quickenden, Chiswick School

I read Rook as the first book in the Carnegie Scheme and it got me so excited for the other books. I was drawn in right from the beginning and wasn't bored at any point in the story. I loved how the story was written in the perspective of the main character. I find the struggles in his life are very realistic and it is a great example of a novel with non-fiction aspects. The relationship between him and his brother is incredible and Anthony McGowen wrote it very well. The way he believes everything is quite funny (especially about his friend Doctor Who). The book got me laughing at several times, but also got me very cheery- when you find out the rook survived- this book is a must read for everyone! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and when I finish Carnegie, I will certainly read the other two in the series
