The Bone Sparrow

The Bone Sparrow is very emotional book, which in majority, is written from the point of view of a boy called Subhi who was born in a refugee camp in Australia.
The book is about the hardships of living in the devastating environment of the camp. It also describes how meeting someone, a girl from the Outside, can make life seem not so bleak.
This story is very important, as it helps to make people aware about the terrible things that are happening in our world, and the terrible conditions that people have to live in. It really makes you think about how lucky we are to love in a country where things like this don't happen. It is awful to think that the events that took place in this book are not just fantasy, but things like them are actually happening today to people who are not so different to us.
Over all I really enjoyed this book, and it helped me to understand what life is like for people who are forced to leave their countries due to war, then treated like criminals when they arrive at places they have risked their lives to reach. Even thought this book had a slow start when I got into it was actually exciting, dramatic and a very good read. 4*
