The Bone Sparrow
This book is about a boy called Subhi and is about life in a refugee camp. The main character (Subhi) was the first child ever born at the refugee camp and knows nothing different to living on a mattress with a scratch blanket or sleeping in a rat filled tent. The turn of this story is when he meets a girl from the other side of the fence called Jimmy. They talk for hours and Jimmy always brings Subhi food and he is amazed that food like hot chocolate exists and that there is more to eat than out of date mush. I would recommend this book to everybody in year 6 and above to inform you about life in immigration camps and to give you a different perspective on immigration.
