Wild Animals of the North

This amazing book, illuminated with accurate, clear and cubist illustrations, is a user friendly guide to animals that reside in the north of our planet. Amazing endpapers with the various footprints and the striking front and back covers add to the general awesomeness of the book, it is a definite must-have. Usually, indexes are boring and a bit irritating (to me) but this is an illustrated dictionary of sorts with the usual colourful, cubist and really detailed illustrations for all the animals covered.
The definite synergy between the text, with a good font size and the large illustrations. I love the rustic feel the coloured dots that could be grit, sand or dust give for every epic illustration. Even though cubism isn’t the most realistic style, Dieter Braun has manipulated it look somewhat better than what the animals actually are. The amazing shading makes the illustrations move in my imagination while the colour pallet captivates my processors and colour receptors.
Only a basic understanding of some of the wild animals of the north is given so I could recommend this book to not only children, but to all age groups. It is user friendly, easy to read, so children from 7 years old might be able to read and understand the whole book on their own.
