Salt to the Sea
Although 'Salt To The Sea' is a fantastically written book, I did not enjoy it. With switching stories every chapter I found it hard to link them up and know what was going on. Although I found it hard, when I could read it it seemed that it had a good story and it was really well written using lots of imagery to give you a good visual picture in your head whilst reading it.
'Salt to the Sea' tells a tale of different characters with lots of different problems. I found it good how there were 4 different views within the book, however at the same time it was quite confusing. This book gives you a good insight as what it was like with big problems in hard times. The characters are completely different with only one similarity and that is their mission - trying to escape. They all use the Wilhelm Gustloff whaich is a boat what carried refugees from country to country during world war 2.
One way that this book could've been a lot better is that if each story was in order for example it would tell all of Florian's story then move on to another character like Alfred or something. That is my only complaint about the book. I think the rest is good, filled with tension and excitement.
Overall I think the book is quite good and the description of things and some of the imagery used is outstanding. Without it the book wouldn't be anything like it is. Overall I would give this book 4 stars!
