Saint Death

Saint Death is about the main characters' friend asking him to gamble for money to save his life from a Mexican gang that he works for. His friend used the money to send his wife and child, who could be Arturo's(the main character), to America (El Norte) on the other side of the border. Arturo gets himself in trouble with the gang as well and owes the same gang 4 times more money than his friend, Faustino. In the end, the gang gives him a choice to become a gang member as well, or die. And he chooses to die. Because of the ending, you either enjoyed it more or less. The whole is written in a way that makes the reader feel like they are in Mexico by having upside down exclamation and question marks. The atmosphere of the book is well written.
