Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth
Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth is a book by Frank Cottrell Boyce about a young shy boy call Prez, who doesn't enjoy speaking. Prez is currently living in a temporary home, where everyone has to shout to even get one word in. Of course Prez is okay with this because it makes it a lot easier for him to not speak. One night when they are eating tea, Prez hears a knock at the door and so goes and answers it but then he is greeted by a young boy wearing googles, backpack and a kilt - the type of stuff adventurers wear. Prez invites the young boy in to the house and is amazed as to why everyone seems so fascinated by him. The young boy first introduces himself as Mellows but later then takes the name Sputnik. Mellows talks but no one responds to him almost as if they can't hear him.(I won't explain anymore of the story line, so I don't give any thing away).
My favourite character would be Mellows because he adds a little bit more excitement to the plot and also is something that I wasn't expecting. Mellows is a dog/human who is around the same age as Prez.
I personally would recommend this book to people who are age from 7-14 just because of how the book is worded. I would also rate this book a 3/5 because I didn't really enjoy the story line as much as some as the other books.
