Alice, Burford School Carnegie Shadowers
The Stars at Oktober Bend
'The stars at oktober bend', by Glenda Millard is a cleverly sculpted book that switches from Manny to Alice's perspective. The book shows how hugely different people can overcome threats, prejudice and injury. It is really interesting how Millard shows Alice's brain injury through her writing by having no capital letters and little to no punctuation other than full stops in the wrong places.
I would recommend this book to preteens and teens because it shows companionship and that you can overcome anything.
