The Hate U Give
I found this a really harrowing and emotional book about the heartbreak and guilt that follows after witnessing your best friend being killed in cold blood. I really enjoyed this book for it's unusual use of language and captivating story line. I know I would be absolutely distraught if my best friend was killed, so I can barely imagine how Starr could cope so well, despite it not being that well at all. Despite being a little tough in parts, I thought it highlighted how even today, some people feel they are superior and have more rights than others just for the colour of their skin, which I think is appalling. I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a tough read about the powers of family and friendship, and how it can tear your world apart if you lose that.
