Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth
This book is very enjoyable and funny. It is about a boy called Prez who is staying with his foster family and Sputnik, who comes from another planet to try and save the Earth from getting shrunk. If Prez doesn't find 10 things worth seeing on Earth, the planet becomes the size of a tennis ball.
I really enjoyed the bits where Sputnik uses things literally like with the remote control and reads the manual. Also, I liked the humorous style of writing, which was from the point of view of Prez - it was first person so you could get a lot of thoughts and emotions. Furthermore, I enjoyed the way that although it was for younger children there was also meaning and you could enjoy even if you were older.
Overall, I really liked this book (4 stars) and I would recommend it to years 4 or 5+.
