King of the Sky

This book is about a boy who looks lonely throughout until he meets a friend called Mr Evans. The illustrator has used pencil crayons. She has used dark colours to show how lonely and sad the little boy is feeling. In every single picture she is trying to show the man and the boy getting closer to each other and their relationship. She has used black to show the smoke coming out of his brain this is to show that he doesn't like Wales. Also she has shown the little boy on the floor and on the side she had a picture of Rome with lots of colour to show sunlight. In one of the pictures the pigeons are flying away where as the man is just looking at them and thinking that they are free and maybe imagine himself flying with them. In most of the pictures the sky is smoky however the clothes that the characters are wearing are light colours to show hope that he can get some friends and find a reason why he should live in that country. This book is about children that move countries but they need to find a reason for living there like the boy finds the man and the pigeons. At the end the pictures show happiness and the boy looks happy and not sad any more.
