Salt to the Sea
"Salt To The Sea" is an incredible novel based on a real life tragedy during World War II. It follows the stories of four main characters: Joana, Alfred, Emilia and Florain- who are all fleeing from war-torn countries. Every chapter is written in a different person's perspective, meaning it is quite difficult to understand at first. However, you learn more about them as the book goes on and their individual stories become fused together to make one outstanding, gripping tale.
Personally, I was amazed to find out that this maritime disaster is unknown to most people even though thousands more were killed in this than the Titanic! Not many know about this since the Nazi's kept it a secret. I think you should read this novel because more people need to be educated on what actually happened during the war(not just the famous incidents).
I love the way in which this story is written (a different person's point of view for each chapter) because it means you get a brilliant insight to what the characters are thinking and feeling.
Overall, I give this book five stars because it has an outstanding plot, many twists and turns, it is written extremely well and it teaches you about how people were suffering during the war in different countries.
