The Bone Sparrow

Bone Sparrow is a book about friendship, family and love. It is a very emotional book with many unexpected twists and turns.

Subhi is a boy who was born in a detention centre in Germany in WWII. He has many friends but has never been to what he calls “The Outside”. His whole life revolves around this place and he dreams of going to different places and eagerly listens to his mum’s stories, and his sister enjoys telling him what children do outside, like climbing a tree or eating something other than the mush that they serve at the centre.
One day, he gets a surprise visit from a girl, Jimmie, from the outside. Jimmie can’t read, but Subhi can and Jimmie brings a book, the Bone Sparrow, about Jimmie’s family past. Find out what it says in the book! What is the Bone Sparrow?

Overall, I liked this book very much as it made me think about the war and its consequences. I particularly liked the plot and I would give it 5 stars!
