Beck was a very good book. It was sad and really showed the theme of Human Rights. However, it wasn’t really appropriate for younger readers as it had a lot of graphic things. The author created a very sad theme that made us believe that if we were in that scenario, we would be the good guy. The way it played out was very realistic but I wished that we found out what happened to the characters Beck met on his journey in an epilogue. The book made me pity Beck but at the start it made me irritated by him. There wasn’t a steady rhythm but that didn’t affect my overall opinion. There also wasn’t the fairy tale ending that the build of the story made us expect. Overall, Beck was a good story but only appropriate for year 9 and above.
