Maddie K, Fortismere
Beyond the Bright Sea
I loved this book. It was beautifully written with characters that the reader instantly connects with. In the book, Crow (with the help of Osh and Ms Maggie) uncovers her past and her family. I like the character Mouse the cat and also really enjoyed the narrative of the story. I was intrigued by Osh who was mysterious about his past and where he came from. I had unanswered questions about him, the many languages he spoke and what led him to the island. Another part of the book is that Crow is looking for her brother who she believes she saw on a boat called Shearwater, passing by the ferry. This keeps her hopeful and I was interested to find out who and if this boy was her brother.
The main point of the book is that Crow discovers that there are bonds stronger then blood.
