Beyond the Bright Sea

The world that Crow lives in is so different from our life in London. So, in some ways, it is really interesting to us, with all of the sailing, fishing, and even not being encouraged to go to school! Although, on the other hand, we can hardly relate to any of the people in the book, as we live so differently to them. Also, as the book is set in the past time, it is hard to understand some of the things people had then, such as an island where lepers were sent when they were ill, or having to build your own house with planks of wood and anything that washes up on the shore.
