Millicent, Malvern St James MSJ
The Smell of Other People's Houses
I have only read the prologue, yet I am already confused. The story starts with a young girl called Ruth who lives in Alaska. I think it needs to catch my attention or at least get me hooked. However the blurb gives no intel towards the story. I felt sorry for Ruth and her mum when her father was killed but overly I had no sense of feelings towards them. I haven’t really enjoyed reading the book because it is not interesting and isn’t captivating. I find the use of language simple and is self-explanatory. Although in the first few pages I was keen to tell my friends, yet I have no thoughts about it. I have decided that I will not recommend this book to my friends because I have found it boring, dull and uninteresting.
