The Smell of Other People's Houses
"The Smell of Other People's Houses" is a very complicated book following four main characters; Ruth, Dora, Hank and Alyce. They are suffering hard lives for different reasons in 1970s Alaska, that is until they each get the breakthrough they have needed and their lives are changed forever. Laced with sadness and tragedy, the lives of the four become entangled as the story progresses.
Overall, although the book is well written and the title is intriguing, I didn't enjoy it, as I thought it left too many lose ends and some key parts were left unexplained. It didn't hook me like some of the other books I've read in this challenge.
