The Hate U Give

The Hate U Give has a very good point on racism and human rights. With Khalil being shot because some said it was because he was black and others say it was because he reached for a hairbrush which the officer had assumed was a gun. Star felt threatened because before he was shot, Khalil was associated with a drug dealing gang, and these people threatened Star and her family if she were to give her eye witness account of what happened on the night of the party. Everyone was scared of this drug gang but at the end of the book, everyone came together and stood up against them.
