Lola will not eat peas. In fact, she won't eat carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, eggs, sausages, cauliflower, cabbage or baked beans. And she will absolutely not eat a tomato. When Charlie discovers that peas are green drops from Greenland, and that carrots are orange twiglets from Jupiter, even Lola is tempted to clear her plate.
Lauren Child was born in 1967 and grew up in Wiltshire with three sisters. She has always been interested in the many aspects of childhood, from gazing into toy shop windows to watching American children's shows from the 1960s. She attending two Art Schools - Manchester Polytechnic and City and Guilds Art School, London, where Lauren admits that she did not learn much.
Before Lauren starting writing and illustrating children's books she started her own company 'Chandeliers for the People' making exotic, elegant lampshades. It was only when she came to write and illustrate the book Clarice Bean, That's Me that she decided to devote her time to writing and illustrating books for children, which combines her fascination for childhood and her talent for designing and creating. Lauren gets her inspiration from other people's conversations or from seeing something funny happen.

Charlie and lola are apsolutely super, ive loved it for ages even though i have got rid of it, it is the best book i have ever read so i am pleased it got greenaway award in 2000.
The reason i like this books is for the simple reason that i lok charlie and lola they are my favorite charaters i love me to bits and they make me laugh. The pictures in the book are really very bright and they all stand out i think it is a book for any ages from babies to old people u will like it
This book is just beautiful. Reading it with my class, the children picked up on the illustrations immediately, which resulted in many children bringing in another lauren child book the next day. Lola and charlie are also very popular characters in my class and they will run my next art unit.
Charlie and lola are my favourite and my best! the greatest creation for children in ages. Lovable, adorable, and very funny. Everyone should have a brother like charlie, and would love a sister like lola. I cannot get enough of them, and read them to everyone i know.
please write lots more ....xx
