Meeting No.2!
We've all had time to explore out books and it seems like some of us really did manage to pick up an unputdownable book as Sonali and Sanaa have already finished there first book! It was great to hear that EVERYONE had found something exciting or intriguing about their book. Alice and Mrs Norman are really enjoying the futuristic Rail Head; Alice and Ellie are immersed in Wolf Hollow and Sonali thought Beck was just brilliant! We used this session for a quick 'round robin' of first impressions of our bokos (no spoilers, please), to type up brief reviews and, importantly, as a chance to discuss what reading means to us and why it is so important. It was great to hear everyone's opinions. We all agreed that when you are reading, if you have to go back and re-read a passage this is no bad thing - like a favourite song, or favourite film, you get more from each viewing, listening and reading - it helps you fully absorb the story. It's Easter holidays next week for THREE WHOLE WEEKS so the blog might be quiet but we will all still be doing a lot of reading!

Our first meeting
We enjoyed our first meeting of the Carnegie Shadowing Group on Tuesday 28th March as this was the day our books arrived! Each student had the chance to read the blurb and pick a book to read as part of the Shadowing Scheme - it was great to see so many girls willing to try something they perhaps wouldn't normally grab. We have decided to extend our normal half hour Book Club to the FULL lunch hour and we were so glad we did as it meant we enjoyed half and hour of discussion and choosing books and then half an hour of READING! Bliss!
