Waiting for the results....
Our Shadower vote is cast...The House with Chicken Legs got the majority of the votes. The Land of Never Endings is written in a voice that seems to be much younger than a teenage voice. Bone Talk has lots of twists and turns - so far, so good. Rebound is written in a straight to the point way which makes it good. In The House with Chicken Legs, the storyline and language are very exciting and engaging. The Land of Never Endings is better than Long Way Down.

Voting is hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of the group feel that The Long Way Down has a disappointing ending. The House with Chicken Legs has an interesting beginning + when you start it you cannot put it down. Bone Talk is a different style of story with an unusual setting. Things a Bright Girl Can Do is a fascinating insight into the lives of women in the early 20th century. Poet X, although written in poetic form follows the life of a teenager who has to battle with her religion and her family.

The reading continues....
J + L have both tried to read Bone Talk however they did not enjoy it as much as the other novels. L has started to write another book instead. A Skinful of Shadows - following her excellent book, "The Lie Tree", there were high expectations for this novel however it did not live up to expectations, not as good as it predecessor. The House with Chicken Legs was amazing! It is a 'rollercoaster of life' with lots of twists and turns. You feel incredible empathy for the main character. The Land of Neverendings is a fantasy story that a few of us have enjoyed and others are looking forward to starting it. A Long Way Down - It is like the author is setting up for the next novel in the series as a money making enterprise rather than writing a good story ending. Outrage from J + F (on a train)! All the Things a Bright Girl Can Do - Mixed reviews on the use of multiple narrators Lots of people are recommending "Poet X - "Stick with it Miss!" Rebound is going well, a fave of the group. S currently reading it whilst others have finished it. Looking forward to a half term of reading in the sun (with sun cream and a hat!)

J & F are reading A Skinful of Shadows - their review so far is: it is a bit boring and weird. We shall find out whether their opinion changes next week. K is intrigued by Bone Talk, so far it is circular so it feels repetitive. It is a little bit dull but he is determined to read it until the end. So close to the end! H is reading Rebound. She says it is quite easy to read because it has little writing on some pages, it is laid out in a poetic structure however it is a slow burner and she is taking a while to enjoy it so far. M is part way through All the Things a Bright Girl Can Do. It is a large book and best to read in short snippets. The factual context and content is good and tells you lots about the Suffragette movement. F is reading the house with Chicken Legs. She is halfway through and she is eager to find out what happens next. Miss is currently reading Poet X, it is interesting but a little tricky to stay on board with. She will stick with it until the end though!
