Matthew, Lancaster Royal Grammar School
This book follows a boy called Charlie Bell.
It is written in a minimalistic way and is a fairly good book.
This book (like quite a few of the other Carnegie book winners) tackles grief and loss of a loved one. He gets moved to his grandparents as he is a troublemaker and his cousin introduces him to basketball which he discovers he enjoys.
In this story the character develops an important relationship with sport and uses it to get over his grief.
