Isla, Winchmore School
Rebound is set in 1988 at the beginning and at the end, 2018. The book is about a twelve year old boy called Charlie Bell who is recovering from the loss of his father and sent to his grandparents who live in Washington DC. He doesn't expect life to get better when he gets there but he soon meets his cousin, Roxie, who introduces him to the world of American basketball.
This is a very touching novel and I felt (others may think differently) that the message was that you are never alone. I think that this is a very good message and is important for teenagers and young adults.
At the start, I didn't think I would enjoy this book as I don't like sports however, the book goes much deeper than just basketball. Therefore I would recommend this book to everyone over the age of eleven including people like me, who don't like sports.
Rebound is structured in verse (sometimes comic strips), making it an easy and enjoyable read. This means that I would recommend it to people who aren't that into reading and it isn't their favourite thing.
Overall, I would recommend this to all ages over eleven and people who aren't into reading.
