A Skinful of Shadows
I was intrigued to start reading A Skinful of Shadows. I liked the idea of a character being possessed by ghosts and was interested as to how Hardinge would incorporate that into the narrative. I found myself liking the concept of the novel, but thought the style in which the book was written was a bit over complicated, meaning the plot did not advance quickly enough to keep me as a reader hooked. All in all, A Skinful of Shadows had all the ingredients of a great read: a sound idea, interesting characters, cliffhangers and moments of suspense, but personally I felt it lacked that almost indefinable spark separating a book you read from a book you HAVE to keep reading.
