A Skinful of Shadows

A Skinful of Shadows is a haunting and thrilling novel and although the plot was slightly complicated and moved slowly, it was vivid and had me hooked from start till finish. This book is about lots of things - the supernatural, history, loss and bravery. The protagonist, Makepeace, is plucky and smart, and throughout the book I felt like I was living the story alongside her. My favourite characters were the bear that possessed Makepeace and the other mysterious ghosts as there was no way of knowing what some of them actually wanted. Some elements of the story were slightly dark (like absorbing the energy from souls!) but I really enjoyed reading this book and I would definitely recommend it to people as it was a unique story.
