Victoria, King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls
Long Way Down
Losing a family member is hard enough as it is without the added pressure of "the rules". Will questions his decision, of revenge, in an elevator ride of a lifetime, seeing faces from his past that may shape his future. I like how the poetry matches the overall mood of Will's story, as his descent through the pages make him question all he has grown up with. The broken verses hang on the paper isolated from the rest of the story, yet bound together in this heart-breaking account of black lives in America.
