The Land of Neverendings
The land of neverendings is a highly imaginative classic that combines the world of imagination with reality. The author manages to fit this in by artfully sculpting a "door through worlds" that by breaking toys from everyone's imagination's appear through the doorway as if everything is normal. When Emily's sister Holly dies she starts hearing noises from the toys she used to play with. The land of Neverendings or smockeroon as Emily called it was somewhere she and her sister could escape to and forget about holly's condition, and along with her sister's blue bear "bluey" they could escape from the harshness of reality. After holly's death these worlds start to become alive literally and the climax of these merging of world's is when Emily woke with a start after seeing a huge evil black toad sitting on her bed. However these are more than just dreams as the toys start talking and coming to life and she suddenly realises with a shock that the broken door is getting out of hand when the magic starts spreading to other people such as her friend Ruth and her ex-best friend Martha. However when she realises that the Sturvey, the organiser and mentor of deep smockeroon goes missing, stolen by the evil toad her and Ruth have seen, Emily leaps at the chance to travel into smockeroon and perhaps even catch a glance at her sister whom upon leaving her world, now lives with her best friend bluey in deep smockeroon.
Great book and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, as it shows in this book, you are never too old for imagination!
