Long Way Down

The book follows a 15 year old boy named Will and unwritten rules of the society he lives in. The rules are:
1. No crying
2. No snitching
3. If someone kills someone you love, get revenge.
Will’s brother Shawn died a couple of days ago and it’s tearing Will apart. But he must follow the rules. He must get revenge. The next day Will sets off from his flat on a mission. He has his brother’s gun in the waistband of his trousers. On his way down in the lift, someone gets in at every level. But these people aren’t ordinary people, they’re ghosts! These ghosts were either members of Will’s family or Will’s close friends. On his “long way down” Will discovers so much more than he expected to...
I mostly liked this book but it was a bit dark and occasionally the style of the poetry became annoying and confusing. I found it quite confusing at the start but I warmed to it as it carried on. Overall I would give it 7/10 and I’d recommend it to anybody at secondary school.
