Belle, Arnold Hill Academy

Long Way Down

This was a very thought-provoking and engaging read.

It focused on a mature theme and yet presented itself in a sense that could be understood by younger ages. It recognises the pressures of growing up in a harsh environment, around gangs and violence. The ideas pushed onto the main character ultimately lead to a negative outcome and this teaches the readers in similar situations to distance themselves from damaging cycles such as this.

As well as the compelling storyline and moral, this book gives us a unique format that seems to express more emotion than the common style of chapters and paragraphs. Aundiences may find the poetic approach more enticing which pulls them further into the story.

In conclusion this book showed great messages and used an interesting format to present itself.
