A Skinful of Shadows
This book is about a girl called Makepeace who lives in a Puritan town with her mother. Makepeace has to fight ghosts in her sleep every night. Then one day, her mother tells her to fight off ghosts in a graveyard- alone. Once in a while Makepeace endures this activity and constantly despises her mother for it. But what will one accident cause? What will happen when Makepeace lets her guard down? What adventures will occur in the new house that shelters her next of kin?
I really didn't like this book. While the descriptions are vivid and the storyline detailed it drags on and on. In total there are almost 415 pages and many chapters. It feels like the book could be a lot smaller and more compelling. The descriptions are brilliant but excessive and written in a way that makes the book hard to comprehend and makes it overall a story drag. I give this book 2 stars out of 5.
There is so much going on. For me, it all seems too much to handle.
