Reuben N, Ermysted's

Things A Bright Girl Can Do

This was a thought-provoking,engaging book all about the suffrage movement and how it affected the lives of three teenage girls from different backgrounds who had different experiences with the movement. This book included themes such as homosexuality, coming of age and poverty based in a time when women were viewed as lesser beings than men and were suppressed by society. The book also covers the added complication of the First World War, which also impacts the girls in different ways. This book gave me an insight into how general life was back then, especially the lives of women, and how much gender equality has progressed in the last hundred years, with this book showing the first step of that journey.
