Long Way Down

Long Way Down is an engaging book by author Jason Reynolds. It follows our protagonist, Will, as he goes through an emotional journey after the death of his brother, Shaun. He gets into an elevator, ready to follow the three rules: no crying, no snitching and always get revenge. He is, at first, sure of what must be done, but it all goes downhill from there. On each level of the elevator, he meets a new figure from his past, as he travels downwards, doubts start to ricochet through his mind. Will he turn back, or will he complete the cycle? Read it to find out more!
Although I found the larger part of the book griping and impossible to put down, the ending disappointed me on a huge scale. Rather than pulling together any loose ends, it simply opened up even more possibilities and left the reader to choose for themselves what happened next. While some may find this satisfying and intriguing, all this did was frustrate me, especially after such an incredible build- up. Despite that, I would definitely recommend this book and rate it 4 stars.
