A Skinful of Shadows

This is a good book, but hard to read. The book is set in the early days of the English Civil war. It follows our protagonist, Makepeace.
After her mother is killed Makepeace attempts to uncover the shadowy secrets of her family history. She travels to her deceased father's house and discovers that the Fellmottes are able to possess ghosts within them, bringing supernatural strength and knowledge.
When someone very close to Makepeace is used to host the ancient Fellmottes ghosts, she sets out to free him and destroy Grizehayes. Even if it means recruiting some rather unlikely friends and risking her own life. Will her plan work.
This book is very good and creepy, although it was very long and hard to read. The chapters are long and the text small, despite this the book uses excellent descriptions ad I picked up lots of good words that I hope to use in my own stories.
