Nick, Christ's Shadowers
Rebound is relatively similar to 'Booked', another novel written by Kwame Alexander. There's a hero - in the case of Rebound, a boy who is wondering how much he enjoys basketball - who wonders about his feelings towards a girl and has a hurdle to overcome - in the case of Rebound, the loss of his father. It's a relatively predictable storyline that's been done before, but that doesn't stop it being a good read. The fact that it's written in verse helps add a lot of pace, and so makes the reader want to know what happens next. The characters are all likeable and largely three-dimensional (although again a bit predictable). Overall, Rebound has a tried-and-tested plotline, but the innovative use of verse makes it witty, snappy and a fun book to read.
