The House with Chicken Legs
The House with Chicken Legs is a well written story developed off of the children's fairy tale Baba Yaga. If you don't know this tale already it is traditionally told as a scary witch called Baba Yaga collects the dead spirits of people, in a house that stands on chicken legs. This story is told from a different perspective, Baba Yaga's granddaughter Marinka, who makes it quite clear that Baba Yaga is not some scary witch but a caring grandmother. The story is all about Marinka's adventures with their house with chicken legs and her grandmother. Personally I did not really enjoy this book as I could not relate to the main character, in fact I found her quite annoying and disagreeably selfish. The book its self is quite well written with lots of twists and turns but is not the book for me. 3 out of 10.
