Samantha, St Albans Girls School

This book shows the life of Charlie Bell, a young teenager who lost his father to a stroke. He finds it very difficult to recover from this blow, and takes it out on his mother. Getting into trouble with his friend Skinny is the last straw. He is sent off to his grandparents house for the summer, to ‘find his smile’, and that he does. He is introduced to basketball by his cousin Roxie, and cannot stop playing. This helps him to get through his grief. Overall, this book was very enjoyable, and I would highly recommend it.
