A Skinful of Shadows
A Skinful of Shadows starts differently to how it develops later on in the story, it begins in a heavily Protestant town with highly religious views, Makepeace is struggling with nightmares and is trying to overcome them, then her mother dies and she is sent to an ancient house belonging to her deceased father's family. There are so many twists and turns and I did not know what to expect, the seemingly harmless nightmares turned out to have a deeper meaning, I also really enjoyed the other themes they touched upon, like the divide in the country, and the struggles of bear.
Overall I really liked the book, but it definitely got better as it went on.
