The House with Chicken Legs

"The House with Chicken Legs" is a fantastic book!

The story follows a young girl named Marinka, who lives in a walking house. Her grandmother is the famous Baba Yaga! As a Yaga, Marinka is destined to one day, guide dead people to the Gate. Unfortunately, this does not interest Marinka. Instead, she wants a normal life with living people around her!

The Slavic myth of Baba Yaga is what gives this amazing novel it's basis! The author, Sophie Anderson, was really good at selecting language techniques and phrases within her book. The constant reminder of Marinka's future really makes it clear that the story is about Marinka and her goals in life. The book has a theme similar to the Mexican celebration, "Day of the Dead"!

While you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, this one time is an exception. Everything on the front cover, from the graves to the walking house, is in this book!

Read till the end! Definitely recommend to anyone who loves a mystery or adventure book! It really is relateable!

Will this be your next book to read?
