Lucia, Carnegie and Cake
Rebound is a heartwarming and inspirational tale of Charlie Bell, a young boy who turns to basketball to help him with his grieving and despair.
Before this,i had never read a book in free verse. I loved the formatting, & although it was not directly written as one, it felt like a diary- showing us the inside of Charlies' head, helping us to relate to his situation and understand exactly how he feels. The comic strips also played a big role in my understanding of Charlies' character, by portraying his ambitions through the use of something he loves. The book showed how he had some unrealistic expectations of himself (wanting to be both a superhero and famous basketball player) but how those expectations helped him grow and get up when he fell down. I loved the messages in this book and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an uplifting read.
