Abi, St Helen and St Katharine
Long Way Down
For my third book I chose to read Long Way Down because it looked intriguing and a different genre to those I normally read. It looked to me like a murder mystery book full of secrets and the type of book that would leave you on a cliffhanger at the end of a chapter. However I found the book a boring read because it dragged a bit and it was hard to follow because of different things going on and the choice of sentence structure and words. The events in the book are fairly believable as I can understand how sad livid and furious you would be if someone you know murdered your sibling which fits in with everyday life of various murder stories on the news occasionally and events of shooting. I found the plot of the book simple and not gripping.
This book is about a boy whose brother has been shot and he is searching for the person who committed the crime to give them a taste of their own medicine and shoot them dead as they did to Shawn his brother. The boy curses himself for not cherishing the times when Shawn was around and believes himself not strong enough to complete the task. In conclusion I would rate the book 6/10 because it was good in some places and well thought out however it is not my type of book and I didn’t enjoy reading this as much as I hoped. I would suggest this book to people aged 12/14 and to fast readers because it can be slow in some places.
