The House with Chicken Legs
Marinka lives in a house with chicken legs with her grandmother, Baba Yaga. As the house moves on it drags Marinka away from any friend she has made. Yet the house cares for Marinka, even though she hates everything it stands for. Will it ever be possible for Marinka to escape this life or wil she accept it?
This story follows Marinka as she fights to escape her destiny and the house risks itself to make her happy. The House With Chicken Legs is a brilliant book and it is an amazing take on the russian folktale, twisting everything around so the house is good and people are a danger to it. I would reccomend this book for ages 9+ it is incredible and makes you feel for Marinka and her situation. You can really understand how she is feeling.
Every one should read this book as it will transport you to Marinka's world.
