A Skinful of Shadows

A Skinful of Shadows- this was (so far) one of my least favourite books. I loved the concept of it- how Makepeace and James could inherit ghosts and lose themselves, i think this symbolises struggles that many teens go through today- changing themselves to fit into society. I also liked Makepeace's character: strong minded and not willing to give up on her beliefs. My problem with this book was that it was very long winded and seemed to carry on forever, with irrelevant details and extra side stories that seemed almost a different story to the main one. For instance, the mother at the beginning seemed as if she would be very relevant to the story and Makepeace's discovery. I think her character could have been in the story for longer, or not be in the story at all- because it seemed as if her part of the book was only there to lengthen it or to draw the readers in, but with her death her part in the book seemed a bit disappointing.
