The House with Chicken Legs
This book was very unique compared to any other books I've read before. Although it wasn't really my style of genre, I could tell that lots of people (maybe younger teenagers) would really enjoy the twists and turns in the plot. The structure of the book was simple but effective as it was very well written, however the front cover and title did not at all display the contents of it. Reading a mix of Fantasy and Gothic genres may be confusing at times but it works well with the mysterious plot of the book. The main character is a 12 year old girl called Marinka who is destined to be the next Yaga (person who guides spirits between this world and the next)like her grandma. Although she doesn't want to disappoint her grandmother and dead parents, she is desperate to live a normal life and escape her grandma's footsteps. And then there's her house with chicken legs...
Over all, this was a great book, but it was not one I would usually pick off the shelf.
