A First Book of Animals

I like how the illustrator has made all the pictures for children as all the animals are giving a smile for the pictures. Also the illustrator has used similar colours and animals to the background of the page for some pages which could be used for the scarier animals to make them stand out less making them less scary. Also the writer uses many opposite colours like yellow and black to make things stand out. I don't like the night one as the bat seems out of place and it's very dull for a children's book. The facts are more for the parents but the children could join in and go eww and give their thoughts on it this means while reading a story they read something true like a life lesson. The illustrator has shown scale to the pictures as the ostrich and the hummingbird actually work and contrasting them together makes children understand the size like the bird fitting in ostriches eyes. The illustrator shows movement by using shades in the legs of the cheetah which are darker.
