Bone Talk

I wasn’t particularly keen on Bone Talk but I still found it a pleasurable read. It had nice flow and wasn’t difficult to read. The story follows a young boy named Samkad who lives on a mountain range in the Philippines. Samkad is pre-teen, but desperate to become a man and head off to war. The story tells of the unique life this special tribe leads; it is full of superstition, war and devastation. The story gets quite emotional as you learn about how the Americans arrive and obliterate these innocent people’s lives with their greed and selfishness. My one criticism of Bone Talk is that it sounds from the start as though it will be full of action whereas actually it isn’t. Overall, I would give it 7/10 and would recommend it to readers my age.
