Long Way Down
Personally, I’m not very fond of poetry based novels but Long Way Down has changed my views on them.
Long Way Down is the story of Will as he comes to face the recent death of his brother and the previous deaths of his friends and family as he goes down an elevator. It’s powerfully written in verse with well chosen language to convey the emotions of our protagonist. Will was relatable in some ways and that helps the reader to empathise and the mini flashbacks to is childhood bring the story together.
One key theme was conforming to the rules of society which in this novel, is clearly punctuated throughout it.
Not one word was wasted and it all linked to the main message of the book.
I would highly recommend this book for an engaging read.
