Pippa, St Albans Girls School

Things A Bright Girl Can Do

I liked this because the story was told from a variety of perspectives. This made it interesting throughout as every chapter swapped to a character different to the previous one. Evelyn is denied the opportunity to go to university, so participates in a Suffragette protest. May is encouraged to be different by her liberal mother, and Nell, a tomboy, wants to help the war effort. The plot was clear as well as interesting, and the history was presented in an entertaining way - it was incorporated into the story rather than being given as a block of text like you might find in a textbook. Overall, it was very good and I really enjoyed it.
